Book Summary

Plato’s Dialogues is a collection of philosophical works presented primarily as conversations among Socrates and other historical or literary figures. Rather than forming a single continuous narrative, the dialogues examine questions of knowledge, virtue, justice, politics, education, rhetoric, love, and the nature of reality through distinct discussions and settings.

The principal figure across many of the dialogues is Socrates, whose questioning method challenges assumptions and encourages careful examination of definitions

Author Biography

Plato was a classical Greek philosopher, student of Socrates, and teacher of Aristotle. His works, primarily written as dialogues, laid the foundations of Western philosophy and include influential texts such as 'The Republic', 'The Symposium', and 'The Laws'.
