    Biography

    About Rudyard Kipling

Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was an English short story writer, novelist, poet, and journalist whose vivid tales of British colonial life and animal fables made him one of the most popular and influential authors in world literature. Born in Bombay, India, Kipling spent his formative childhood and early journalism years immersed in the vibrant multicultural landscape of British India, experiences that inspired his immortal collections The Jungle Book (1894), The Second Jungle Book (1895), and the acclaimed picaresque novel Kim (1901). In 1907, at the age of forty-one, Kipling became the first English-language author—and remains the youngest recipient—to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Known for his evocative narrative rhythm, unforgettable characters like Mowgli, and celebrated poems such as 'If—', Kipling's prolific output captured both the exotic romance and the complex moral dilemmas of the British imperial era, leaving a lasting mark on modern storytelling.
